More Fun With Local Food Hub, Charlottesville

UVA Housing taste of the farmYesterday our second group of the year enjoyed a day at the Local Food Hub farm. In spite of the rain and general dreariness of the day, we had a blast helping prepare the farm for the upcoming Taste of the Farm event this weekend. Tanashia, Joanna, and Crys cleaned signs and tables and coated sheets of plywood (and themselves) with white paint on which the kids visiting the farm this Saturday are invited to paint and create, while Josh and Eric braved the rain and moved loads of dirt and plants.

If you haven’t heard, the Taste of the Farm event is your opportunity to pick up organic transplants for your garden, peruse their mini farmer’s market, and enjoy a picnic lunch in a beautiful setting. There will be lots of family-friendly activities for the kids, farm tours, fuzzy farm animals, music, and much much more!

So make some time Saturday to enjoy this fantastic event at Maple Hill Farm and learn more about the mission behind the Local Food Hub. In the meantime, and after the Taste of the Farm event is over, continue to support the hard work of these farming folks by looking for their fresh produce all over Charlottesville, including city and county public schools, the UVA Darden School of Business, Martha Jefferson Hospital, University of Virginia Health System, Feast!, Integral Yoga, Rebecca’s Natural Food, Whole Foods, and many more!
