($16 – $20 per hour plus bonuses)
Woodard Properties, a locally owned property management and development company in Charlottesville, is seeking an experienced Building and Grounds Technician to join our team! The person in this role will help ensure our commercial and residential common areas and exteriors are clean and well-maintained.
Work hours are 8:30 am – 5 pm, Monday – Friday.
- Cleaning Duties: Assist in keeping common areas such as restrooms, laundry rooms, hallways, stairwells, breezeways, and covered parking areas clean and tidy.
- Grounds Duties: Assist in removing loose debris and trash from grounds, weeding, trimming, edging, hauling debris, leaf removal, snow removal, and ice melt dispersion, maintaining plant beds, seeding, and planting as needed.
- Other Miscellaneous Duties: Move furniture, light painting, and assist the maintenance and project teams as needed.
- Supplies: Ensure common area restrooms are well stocked with appropriate paper products and dispensers full.
- Cleaning Supplies and Equipment: Safely use cleaning equipment and supplies and replenish as needed.
- Work Vehicle: Keep the company vehicle clean and stocked with needed supplies and equipment.
- Report: Report any concerns noted while on site to a supervisor.
- Communication: Effectively & professionally engage with customers, peers, supervisors, vendors, neighbors, or community members.
- Experience: 2+ years in similar or relevant jobs.
- Track Record: Verifiable history of providing outstanding cleaning and groundskeeping services.
- Skillset: Knowledgeable about cleaning products regarding effectiveness and safe handling.
- Organized: Highly organized, especially while managing heavy workloads under tight time constraints.
- Independent: Follow a set schedule for cleaning and grounds work while providing quality and timely work.
- Flexible: OK with being pulled off schedule to address any last-minute pop-up needs.
- Team Player: Willingness to assist in other aspects of property management from time to time.
- Ability to lift 45 pounds and perform repetitive tasks.
- Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license and acceptable background check. (No DUI or reckless convictions within the past 3 years.)
